Pair of Paint Decorated Chairs

Pair of paint decorated chairs, early 19thC, SE Pennsylvania origin. Poplar and pine; black over red grained surface. Red roses and ochre leaves on the crest, with a central arrow-back spindle with a heart motif.  

Measuring 34 1/4" tall, 18" wide, seat height 17 3/4".
